Nil Points!! (47)

Finally, here's the picture of my fabric store. It might not look as if I have much fabric stored away, but there's enough there to make me feel guilty. I love buying fabric, but feel guilty just buying it without any project in mind. The posters and programmes on the wall are from various amateur dramatic plays that my sons and I have been involved in.

Well, the voting is under way, and going much as expected. All the Balkan countries are voting for each other, all the Baltic countries are voting for each other, the older European countries are a little less political. So far, though, no votes for  Romania, Germany and poor old UK. Greece, Russia and Turkey are sharing the lead.

Hooray, 6 points for the UK from San Marino (I really should know where it is, but I don't). I'd better sign off now or I'll be giving you a running commentary for the rest of the voting!

I probably have enough fabric to make 30 quilts...I love looking and feeling of the fabric...and I know sooner or later it will be in a quilt.

Your fabric store (here they call it stash) is very neat. Mine is not neat at this time, it is here and there, and not very large. Is the Eurovision Song Contest like American Idol?
Your garden is very charming, and I can see why you like to spend time out there.

I love plays!!! I can't imagine how difficult it is to act.I go crazy for the costumes."Phantom of the Opera" is my favorite thus far!

The local college just performed "Bus Stop" written by William Inge.I really enjoyed it.

I see you've got your materials nicely organized. I'll be looking forward to seeing your next project.

I found your blog from a comment you left at Quilts and Pieces . . . came to see you because you're in the UK and I'm a confirmed Anglophile. I loved the pictures of your garden and wished they could be expanded so I could see better. Enjoyed seeing your fabric store - and the cute radiator so different from the ones here - and also the programs from plays because we have done lots of amateur theatrical work, also. I think I'll have to come back again!

I don't think you should feel guilty about your stash. It looks like you have just enough to finish up or fill in for part of a quilt, but not quite enough to make an entire quilt. That seems like just the right amount. It can be daunting to have to buy everything for a quilt at the same time, and time consuming to run out to the fabric shop every time you run out of something.
If you ever feel guilty about having too much, you should check out some of the stashbuster blogs! Definitely SABLE (Stash Accumulation Beyond Life Expectancy).

I was just reading a few blogs and found a woman who posted a picture of her sewing room. It made me think of your post.

Hi Amanda, you'll just have to get over that guilty feeling of buying fabric without a specific project in mind! On the other hand, some of us take it to the opposite extreme! How are you coming along on your Orange Crush? Bonnie has Step 5 up now. These blocks will be very bright!

I feel guilty too - funny isn't it. I don't buy that much, I have no vices or bad habits, but I always hide my purchases and sneak them into the house. My dh has never said anything to me. I wonder why we feel guilty? Your garden looks lovely. I did a trip to the garden center this weekend. That always makes me feel good too. But it's harder sneaking a shubbery out of the car than it is a fat quarter.

I like your storage cabinets. I know what you mean about "feeling guilty". We won't tell -- lol. I bought so much extra fabric to do this mystery quilt so I can no longer say "I don't have stash". Oh well....guess I'll have to do the next mystery quilt and shop from my stash.

BTW -- what are you voting for?

Considering you've not been quilting long, you're building up a nice little stash!! If you like scrappy quilts it makes sense to buy when you see a bargain and figure out using it later. If you like matchey quilts only buy when you have a project in mind. Find a system that works for you and enjoy :)

We'll root for the UK from over here in the states - not that it will do you any good - but at least you know there are others cheering with you.

Don't feel bad - I'm a terrible fabric-aholic. My husband once told someone that I don't really quilt, I just collect fabric...just think, it never goes bad!
