Thank You (23)

There are so many kind and generous people out there. I would like to thank those of you who have read my blogs and responded to my queries with help and advice. It is much appreciated and it's lovely to know that you are out there somewhere. I am beginning to make sense of Bloglines, but am not there yet I fear - I always thought I was pretty computer-savvy, but I'm not so sure at the moment.
I'm keen to pick your brains again. I have a terrific GP (doctor) who has been very helpful over the years I have known him, and I would like to make him a small wallhanging for his office to thank him. I bought some super blocks on eBay and now need to decide what to do with them. The patches are 4" square and I have 10 of each. Any ideas?

cut each block into four and make a small bargello or trip around the world per Bonnie's directions? I'll bet there's other patterns in there that might work too.

Gosh, that top left fabric is adorable!
I haven't thought much about your request, but the first thing that came to mind was an "Around the World" pattern---possibly cutting the fabrics into 2" pieces to yield 1.5" final sizes......

OOO.....or.....maybe an "Irish-Chain-Wannabe"....
oOOOO....OR......create 4-blocks with the Orange/white by cutting them into 2" squares to yield 1.5" final sizes--which would create a 3.5" 4-block (A LOT like the OC#1 blocks); keep the "doc" fabrics in tact and cut to match the 3.5" 4-block size.....

sorry--just brainstorming!

Let me know if you need more assistance with the Bloglines. It *IS* slick once you figure them out. (It's how I knew you had an update today) :0)

Happy Monday

Ok, here's my 2 cents...I have read all over bloglines recently and seen all kinds of cute quilts about Disappearing 9 Patch. Here are two links for tutorials for that. I think your blocks would look great in that. Good luck, let us see the final result. Quilty hugs, Linda

Amanda, you could always layer the orange squares with the white squares (right sides together)....draw a line across the diagonal (on the wrong side of the fabric).....then sew a 1/4" away on both sides of the drawn line. This will give you two half square triangles to work with. You can play around with these while keeping the novelty squares in tact. Maybe even make a four patch using the half square triangles and the novelty squares. You could do it to where the orange sides of the half square triangles meet in the center forming a bow-tie of sorts.

Definitely get some graph paper and a pencil. You will want to play around with different ideas on paper first before doing any cutting or sewing.

Have fun with it!!

I am having a hard time with bloglines - so for now I just check my favorite blogs every day. I'll try again though. I don't think I would cut into the theme blocks. There is too much space around the designs and I wouldn't want to lose the nurse or those cute little bandaids. Maybe something simple like sewing the four blocks together with a common sashing around each unit? Let us know what you decide and I'll let you know when I master bloglines.
