Cyber Stitching quilt finished and Quilt Show visit(64)

I managed to finish the little wall hanging from the Cyber Stitching kit this morning. It will be going as a house-warming present to my sister-in-law, but I like it so much I will probably make another for myself at some time. I wonder if I can fashion a little quilt hanger from a wire coat hanger? I was looking at some online and the cost is horrific.

This afternoon I went to a quilt show at Sandown Racecourse. It was touch and go whether I would make it as I have been feeling so tired and yuk over the last few days. I was determined to go though, so I did. I thought I was going to have to leave as soon as I got there though! It was very crowded, with lots of stands and I felt a bit confused and groggy. But I kept strolling around until I got the feel of the place, and then felt a bit better. There was a quilt exhibition with quilts in several different categories. Some were brilliant, some were just too perfect to be called quilts, some were great fun. I took a few photographs of the ones which grabbed my attention.

I made a few purchases, but mostly  boring stuff, like thread, calico, refills for my chalk marker. I did get a length of purple fabric to back my Strawberry Crush + One quilts - garish, but cheap. I also bought a wall hanging pattern and the Happy Villages book by Karen Eckmeier. If you haven't seen these have a look at Tanya's blog, they are great fun and I've been tempted for ages.

HI Amanda: I find tree trimmings - thinner branches from pruning make nice, rustic and free rods from which to hang a small quilt - I also used them as coathangers in my studio to display sweaters I handknit for the little ones.
Sounds like you enjoyed yourself thoroughly at the quilt show - there's always something to buy isn't there.

Amanda, your wall hanging is so cute, no wonder you are wanting one for yourself. Sometimes I see the little hangers for fairly cheap, I'll keep an eye out for you. I'm glad you got to go the the quilt show, and I enjoyed your slide show. Lots of pretty things.

Glad you were able to enjoy the quilt show after starting off feeling kind of rough. Those are great quilts in your cute little slide show. (how'd you do that?)
With all your house doings and then a migraine, I don't know how you've managed to get all this stitching done, but congratulations on doing it! The cyber stitching sounds neat and you've got some great goodies.
Carry on!

Such an adorable wall hanging, I can see why you don't want to give it up. I especially love the use of buttons. So cute!

Hope you'll be happy with the book! Let's see... What colors is Amanda going to use...?

The wall hanging turned out so cute...it will be a wonderful gift.

Your mentioned some "quilts" at the show should not have been called quilts...they are more artwork from fabric instead of water colors or oils. I make quilts to sleep or snuggle under and I will never be able to create a master piece like that. But that is okay too.

Have a fun week.

Cute wallhanging :0) And SO MANY french knots! I could never figure those blasted knots out when I cross-stitched years ago, so I stopped trying them.

I can't imagine what your migraines and "panic attacks?" are like, but I hope you were able to enjoy the quilt show as much as possible. Thanks for sharing the pictures; it's always fun to let the mind wander while looking at other's quilts to get inspired for yourself.

OH, and I should add....
"You might be a redneck if....
.....you fashion a little quilt hanger from bending a hanger"

:0)
do y'all know what a "redneck" is over in the UK?
