Cross stitch, cat and caddy (113)

Life goes on much as usual. We've had a couple of people viewing the house, but nothing has come of it. The estate agent came to visit yesterday and can't really understand why it's not selling, as people seem to like the house, so it's probably just because of the current climate in the housing market. We've dropped the price again, but that's the last time. If we still don't sell in the next 6 weeks we shall take it off the market and try again next year.

It's a lovely sunny morning here, which makes a change from all the rain and the dull, dull days we've been having. I've been taking my regular daily walk come rain or shine, and doing my exercises, but that's about the height of excitement at the moment! I'm off to see the physiotherapist again today, so perhaps he'll add to the fun by giving me some more or different exercises. Can't wait!

We watched the Paralympics Opening Ceremony on Saturday and were enchanted, it was so different from the Olympics but still terrific. The BBC are covering lots of the action too, which is so much better than previous years.

I've managed to get quite a bit of sewing done. I've made this needlecase using a lovely cross stitch pattern but cannot for thelife of me track down where I got it from. If anybody recognises it please let me know as I would like to acknowledge the designer.

Here's Rosie checking out my progress on the Secret Santa swap. Having finished all my projects for the Stitcher's Angel swap I'm now on to that one, and making pretty good progress. It's a wall hanging with lots of machine applique, which I'm enjoying much more than hand applique.

And finally, I've made the armchair caddy designed by Helen of Hugs'n kisses.

I need to find something to put on the back to stop it slipping off the arm of our leather sofa. Any ideas? It should be jolly useful though.

So let me get this right, you've finished your Stitchers Angel goodies and you've now started on the Secret Santa. that's not fair. I've only finished one of my Angel goodies and I haven't even thought about the Secret Santa. That'll be next month's panic.
You're putting me to shame.
Love and hugs gina xxx

we can purchase a no-slip rubber padding for under carpets here in Canada... I've also seen it as yardage at some fabric stores -- or whatabout the stuff made for the feet of baby's booties? pretty much anything with rubber spots/strips will want to stay put on a leather cahir I'd think...

So glad you have a sunny morning - it can really change your outlook on the day! <-- ours is rainy & dreary and I didn't want to get out of bed for work! lol.
Your needlecase is beautiful! I love the little kitties & the fabric is gorgeous!
Rosie looks like a great helper! :)
Your arm chair caddy is adorable! Thank you for the link - I might have to make one! Not sure what you might have available to you in the UK, but here we have this stuff(<-I know so helpful! lol) that can be used to put under a rug to stop it from slipping and also they sell it for cabinet paper - it is made of something like rubber that is ?woven? has holes anyways. I use it under my keyboard to stop the keyboard from moving as I type. Good luck! Hope you think of something! :)

I'm sure the housing delay has nothing to do with your house -- if it is anything over there like it is around here, people are still waiting for the prices to stabilize before they make any decisions.
You have been busy. There is nothing like a good event on TV to keep up pasted into our armchairs getting handwork done. I don't know if they have it there, but I use a rubbermaid shelf liner that looks sort of woven, but is made out of some sort of rubbery plastic. If you haven't got that, how about some of those bathtub decals they make to keep the bottom of the tub from being too slippery?

Amanda, I love how your needlecase turned out and the armchair pin cushion is great, also. The xs pattern was a freebie from http://ancsanaplo.blogspot.com/2008/07/cics-ttart-cats-needlecase.html

I'm sorry that your house isn't selling more quickly, maybe this last price drop will be just the thing to make the interested buyers put in an offer. Your stitchery is lovely, and I meant to tell you that I love the shirt you made for Christopher. I like that type of shirt, I think that men look nice in them, and they are more interesting than plain.
I was thinking maybe to back your armchair caddy, some of the waffle carpet backing, or maybe even a little sticky back velcro tape. I hope your appointment goes well today, and that your exercises are helping.

I've been catching up on your blog, Amanda, and have so enjoyed seeing all your projects. I love Christopher's shirt, and your needlecase is *so* cute! It is a difficult time to be selling a home, and I hope it all works out for you.

Oh dear! I'm sorry you're having the real estate problem, too. My daughter and son-in-law have been trying to sell their condo for the past 8 months and it just hasn't moved. My neighbor has had her house for sale for 2 years and dropped the price several times. It is NOT a good time to sell homes in Chicago. I'm sorry to hear it's similar in England, too.

Your stitcheries are so cute! Thanks for giving the link for the kitties. I took a look and think I might try one of her patterns. They look small and managable. I need something little to take with me on a trip.

Hang in there with the house...our market isn't too bad, but the prices have dropped and the houses are taking about 6 mo. to sell...But I've notice alot more sales in the last month or so around here.

I'm impressed with how much you get accomplished! Puts me to shame.

Amanda you have been busy. I really like your projects that you finished. Rosie looks like she is trying to decide which one she want to lay on first. We are home from our trip. I'll be holding good thought that your house sells soon. Ours also. I know what I am doing for the SSCS also just have to get started.
