The kitchen fitter finished his part of the job yesterday at lunch time - he worked like a steam engine as he was keen to drive back to his home in Scotland yesterday with as much daylight as possible. Why they sent a fitter from Scotland, way up in the north of the UK, down to us in the south west is a mystery.
We're really pleased with the way the cupboards look. I've got loads of cleaning to do though, before I can start putting everything away as all the surfaces and all the cupboards and all the doors are covered in a layer of very fine brick dust. Then the whole house needs to be cleaned as that's got brick dust everywhere too.
We have temporary worktops for the time being, until the granite worktops are made. They're coming next week to measure up and then it will be a couple of weeks before they can be fitted.
We also need new flooring, new tiles and then get everything decorated, so it's going to be another month or so before it's properly finished. I can't wait.
On the left there's an alcove for Rosie's bowls to go and next to it is a cupboard for our wellie boots.
Next to the sink, on the left is a dishwasher. We've never had one before so it's going to be fun learning how to work it.
A wonderful new cooker.
I'll try and remember to take some photographs of the nifty cupboards some time soon.

Oh wow- what a fantastic space! You'll be cooking up a storm in no time! Congrats!
Wow! Things are changing and looking good. That is some new cooker you put in. I don't do a lot of cooking any more so it would be wasted on me. Is it gas or electric?
It's beautiful! So light and airy already. Amazing what a difference it makes. Your cooker is impressive. I don't think I've ever seen one like it. Our oven/stoves here in the states are quite different. Although I do have gas and I love it, gas stoves are not that popular here. A dishwasher! Growing up we didn't have one, and when I got married and we had our first house I finally got one and I love it,22 years later I am thankful for it everyday. It's been fun seeing your kitchen come apart and then back together.
Things are shaping up nicely. You will love your new kitchen space!
Was it just the one fitter who did all that work? When we did our kitchen renovation I don't know how Art would have coped alone. He really needed me, my son or my cousin to help brace while he mounted the higher ones. On the second thought, when we hired a carpenter to put in a heavy new door, he did it alone. I guess professionals know how to install everything perfectly without help.
Your kitchen looks fabulous! I am so impressed. THAT is definitely a dream kitchen!
Amanda, you are going to have one fantastic kitchen!! I am loving it. Thanks for the updates.
If you've never had a dishwasher, you'll love it! We've had one shortly now and I never thought I would be so happy with it (o:
Your kitchen is really getting along great!
Love it...all pieces. You will love the dishwasher.
Amanda how nice it will be to have a new kitchen. I'm missing the kitchen I left in the house in WA. Wish I could have moved that whole room. I had tons of cupboards and counter space and lots of light. Enjoy your new space.
Looks like it's coming along wonderfully. I love how bright the room is.
It's going to be so beautiful and functional. I love your sink, have often wanted a sink of that type, I think over here they are called farmhouse sinks.
I have a one-compartment sink that I love.
Your refrigerator intrigues me...tall and thin.
oh it's gorgeous!!!!!
im sure u will be very happy using ur new kitchen! :)
I think your kitchen is lovely. Dated? Maybe the counter is, but a kitchen doesn't cease to be beautiful through being not put in yesterday. And your little shelf has the most luscious grain!
