Festival

Life has been a bit hectic this week. It's the Chewton Mendip Festival of Art, Flowers and Music this weekend and I've been organising the art exhibitition. The run up to this week has been fairly straightforward, getting artists on board, making sure they know what's expected, chasing them for details, etc. But this week it's all got under way with a vengeance; tidying the church, doing flower arrangements, collecting display boards, receiving the art from 24 artists and setting it up has been exhausting. On Thursday evening we had a concert with local musicians, including the choir I belong to, Village Voices. On Friday evening we had an Art Preview, which was very successful and over the weekend, as well as the art exhibition in the church, there are ten gardens in the village being opened for visitors. Roll on Monday, and total collapse of stout party (I think that's a quote from Pickwick Papers).

So here are a few photographs for you to see of the exhibition and flowers. It's not easy taking photographs inside the church because of poor lighting, but they'll give you an idea of what's going on.

Such beautiful work by so many people...also the display is wonderful. You and others put many hours into this showing. I hope the response was huge.

I enjoyed the Smilebox presentation. So many talented people participated with their artwork.

I would picture in my mind an English village church look very much like the one in your pictures! About how large is the village you live in?

The photos turned out very nicely and it really showed how much work you all put into this creative and artistic endeavor. You must be so proud! Your quilts really add color and pizzaz to the whole look.

So much hard work and organizing for so long really looks like it paid off. What a wide array of art: iron, sculptures, paintings, textiles! It was fun picking out your quilts in the pictures.
