Quilt top finished

I've finished my scrappy blue quilt top, and I'm so pleased with it. I just kept adding bits to it until it was the size I wanted, a lap quilt. I added in the red border because it just seemed to need something to bring it to life. I'll try and get a better photograph when I've quilted it, but the weather is so dull and grey at the moment that I don't think it would be any better if I waited for daylight.

I've still got quilt a few blue scraps left, but the bigger pieces will get pieced together to make the backing and then I'll see what I do with the rest. I want to keep a few back to make a rainbow quilt at the end of Scraphappy's challenge.

As you can see, we've still got the Christmas tree up. I feel obliged to leave something up until Twelfth Night, but to be honest, once the New Year is well under way I can't wait to get them down and 'reclaim' my home.

Rosie's just come and given it her seal of approval, so that's alright then.

It turned out really nice!

Ihaven't gathered my blues yet. I'm not sure I have enough, but my main problem is I have no white. The last white I bought a bunch of turned into a mess in the dryer.

Love your kitty too.

An appearance by Rosie! Your quilt top is wonderful. All that accuracy required for this top and you finished it so fast. I may not have as much patience as you. Love the touch of red!

Well done, Amanda! It looks great. As for the Christmas Tree... ours is still up too. I can't reach the box it goes back into and DH hasn't bothered to organise to pack it up - maybe he'll do it one day?! ;)

Love all those blues together in that quilt...looks like Rosie is giving her "paw" of approval also.

All the Christmas decorations came down and were put away yesterday...started something new this year... blue, white and some silver items were put out...seems to early for springy stuff and did not want to go to complete tans, golds and colors like that. May post some pictures in my blog.

I'm giving my seal of approval, too! Very excellent, Amanda! I agree about the red. It's a lovely contrast.

Stunning! I'm amazed that you managed to finish and entire top so quickly. Especially with all those fancy triangle blocks. The red is just right in the border, it does add that extra something special. Have fun with the quilting.

Its just lovely! And the stars are very dynamic! The red does make it 'pop', it wouldn't have been the same without that, although, considering that its all blues, you have done the contrast most impressively. And VERY fast!!
I like the borders with the lines, don't know what you call it, but I think it works very well. I haven't used that idea in a while, perhaps I will on the next one, as my sister wants a quilt for a friend's new babe!

Nice quilt!

I'm glad someone else feels the way I do. I can't wait to put all the Christmas stuff out of sight! :-)

It looks fabulous, I can't believe you have made something so quickly. I'm planning a much smaller project for my attempt at the blue scrap challenge but I haven't even gotten round to sorting my scraps yet, lol

A great use of scraps!

Great top and all the greater since it is scraps. Who is it that said that we pay as much for our scraps as we do our yardage. A beautiful top sure beats the landfill.

Hi Amanda,
I see you have a cat like me that likes to sit on top of new quilts! The quilt is a beauty, and the cat also.
