English weather (138)

I know that people joke about the English always talking about the weather, but you have to experience it to know why. Yesterday we travelled to Brighton in lashing rain and howling winds, almost reaching gale force. We were soaked in the short distance from the car to the fabric shop to buy fabric for a shirt I'm going to make for Number Two Son (red satiny chinese fabric, with red velour for collar and cuffs and zips for fastening the front and the cuffs - just don't ask why!!!).We then got even more soaked in the dash from car to his flat, where we had lunch. We spent a very comfortable afternoon in his warm little flat, chatting (son and I), dozing (DH) and watching a bit of television. Then it was back out into the gale force winds and the driving rain for the journey home, windscreen wipers going nineteen-to-the-dozen.

Today - blue skies, sunshine, not a hint of a breeze and not too cold either.

Tomorrow - who knows?

Tell me about it. I was dog walking yesterday and my coat was still wet this morning. It's at times like that I could quite happily swap Stan for a goldfish.

Love and hugs Gina xxx

With weather like this you can't get bored with the same day after day, can you?

Here in Southern Oregon it is pouring rain also, just no winds. Glad you enjoyed the time with your son; his shirt sounds very fancy.

Yes -- your weather is much more eventful than ours. Every day is the same right now: high of 75 and partly sunny with a chance of afternoon showers.

We are having tons of rain the last few days. Small blessing is we aren't (at the moment) having gale force winds to go with it. The saying in WA is if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes and it will change. Enjoy your good days - if they are like ours they are few and far between in the winter.

Hi Amanda. That sounds like Texas weather......LOL....Today it rained with thunder and lightening, then in the afternoon the sun came out with very few clouds....we have a saying in Texas that if you don't like the weather, wait a few minutes....LOL...Take care.

Exactly the same sort of weather here. Blue sky and sun means rushing to get the gardening tools out to start digging flower beds and within 10 minutes you're putting them back again as it's chucking it down!

Hmmm... that sounds like an interesting shirt. I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like.
