Word Verification continued

I'm not surprised that so many of you are equally as irritated as I am about this problem. Jabblog left me a link to a wonderful post on the subject, and I suggest that you go and read it too. It says everything I'd like to say.

If everyone started turning the word verification off and using comment moderation perhaps Blogger would get wind of our annoyance and do something about it.

I haven't tried the new interface because I'm too lazy to change something that seems to be working well, and now I don't think I'm going to bother.

Do let me know what you think about that post and pass it on to others who read your blog if you agree.

I did like the post, but even with comment moderation I got spam, something in one of the spam's left my computer with a virus, that took a long time for my husband to fix. So now my thought is make the best of it. When I type the words in right it's like I solved a word puzzle! It would be nice though if they could make the words legible.

A half hour after I turned off word verification last week, I got spam. I've tried it again now, not including anonymous, so I'll see what happens.
I must say, I haven't had much trouble with typing the new words. I like the challenge, but I can understand that it is very frustrating!

I can feel her frustration joining to mine xx

alright Amanda----I'll give the "no capcha" a chance. Already 2 spams in my box over the past 5 hours (probably because I allow for anonymous commenters due to my family); however....I'll see how it goes.

Yah...me too. It will change my "commenting behaviour" for sure!

Thank you! I'm glad I could turn it off. Spam is not a problem for me so I'm happy to get rid of it. :-)

Great post! I hate the new word verification too, and I don't have it turned on right now. I turn it on when I start getting too much Spam in my e-mail which just irritates me. It doesn't get into my blog because Blogger does filter it out usually.

This is such a hard thing to decide on. I understand about the comment moderation, but I like instant gratification of seeing comments pop right up.

Here's hoping I can stay Spam free for a while so I don't have to resort to the Word Verification again. Yes, it is a pain in the wazoo.

Ello Mother!

I may not be much use in regards to quilt related banter... but with this I can help a little.

Although the words used by the verification system are very often doubles / not real words / dotted with punctuation, you don't actually need to get them perfect every time. I generally take a glance and then whack in something close.

Try it for yourself, change the odd letter, miss out all the punctuation, and if your not sure whether its a 'N' or a scew-whiff 'Z' then just stick either in, it will almost invariably not make a difference. I reckon they're only looking for about 80% accuracy :o)

Hope this helps!
