(130)

It's been another glorious autumn day today, and when I went out for my short walk I remembered to take my camera with me and take some photographs of the lovely autumn colours. Because we've had such a warm September and early October though, many of the summer flowers are still flowering. We have a mixture of deciduous and coniferous trees in the area, so although some are changing colour and starting to lose their leaves, many remain green.

Well, it looks as if our house move might be under way after all. The prospective buyers are still very keen and prepared to wait while we look. So we've booked ourselves three nights at a hotel in Wells next week, following my mother-in-law's funeral. It will do Christopher good to get away and start looking for a new house. I've made about six viewing appointments so far and still have some to make, to look at houses I've found on house sale sites on the internet. We may find some more in estate agents too, so it could be a busy few days. And who knows? We may find the house of our dreams.

And, just to top the day off, I've won a competition. The website for a craft magazine I subscribe to was asking for questions to ask Cath Kidston. My question was chosen and I've won a copy of her new book, Make, which is full of ideas and templates. There was also a plain cotton tote bag included, all ready to decorate. How lucky am I?

Where do I start...the trees are so pretty with the red amongst the green...What kind of tree was that with the red fruit (after the apple pictures)I thought at first it was apples but the leaves did not look like apple ones.

Good luck on house hunting...may you find one that meets all your desires - and the pocket book too.

Congrats on the winning of the book and bag.

Keep us posted of all the latest.

That's fantastic - lucky you winning that book. I read recently that Cath Kidston's things were going to be carried more in the US - let's hope so she has beautiful fabric. One of your pictures looks like it has palm trees in it? what kind are they?

How fun that you won!
I hope you'll find your dream house when you go looking for it. The buyer of yours must really have loved your old house! We've had lovely fallcolors this year, too, but I've been no good at documenting it... but you do it great!
Have a nice weekend!

You have quite a variety of trees around you--I was surprised to see one that looked rather tropical. You've got one photo that would make a nice one for Christmas. Glad to hear the house deal is still on, the hard work is yet to come. I could count on one hand how many times I've won things in my life; but I won a hand quilted quilt a couple years ago. That was so exciting I wouldn't care if I never won another thing!

Congratulations on the sale -- it must have been meant to be if everything is coming together so well. Maybe the perfect house is out there waiting for you to find it. Moving is never fun I know, be hopefully it will all be worth it in the end.

It sure seems that life is going to start getting busy, busy, busy for you. Good luck and have fun on the house search! Be sure to share photos with of (if you're permitted to take pictures). I'm sure I'm not the only one who would agree that seeing British homes will be exciting! I'd love to see what you're seeing, SPECIALLY if you DO find the home of your dreams!

And YEAH----a winner! :0)

Glorious fall photos, Amanda! They are all very lovely. Congratulations on your move being under way. We may have to put our Illinois house up for sale after all and this is the worst time. Yikes! Have a wonderful day!

Oh dear. A move is so much work! But actually it gives one a lot of ideas for making a dream house when you can't really see the things in front of you. Sometimes I say I want to move to a dream house but I really just need to fix up my own a bit more. Hope you find something that sets your heart a flutter.
