A new toy

It was my birthday at the weekend, and so I treated myself to a new toy, an iPod Touch. I was planning to get an iPod Shuffle, so that I could upload music and talking books to play when I'm working on the sewing machine. But I was seduced by all the extra things on the Touch, and splurged. It's going to be great fun!

We managed to see Number Two Son a few days before my birthday, and he gave me a lovely book called Stitchopedia, which has instructions and projects for all different types of hand embroidery. The first thing I'm going to try is a sheep in stumpwork. DH gave me a beautiful necklace made of squares of coloured glass which he bought at the Royal Academy of Art. It's gorgeous. And then we collected Number One Son on Sunday and brought him back home with us for a few days. He gave me a CD, the Beatles' Abbey Road, which was the first thing to get loaded on my iPod Touch.

Yesterday I rested whilst DH and Number One Son went to Bristol for some computer/mobile phone type shopping. Today we're going into Wells for a wander, then NOS and I are going to play on my sewing machine as he's really keen to see how the embroidery module and the BSR work.

Happy belated birthday! It's nice that you got to see both of your sons and it sounds like you got some lovely gifts. I got an Ipod touch recently also and am still getting used to it. I think that I'll like it, and with all our dr's appt's and such, I think the calendar will be very nice to have since I can sync it with my computer and my Yahoo calendar. I hope you enjoy yours a lot.

Amanda, Happy Birthday - even if it is belated. Sounds like it was a fun time with the gifts and having family around.

I think we all need to give ourselves a gift from time to time...enjoy your selection.

tsk-tsk...Amanda.....being seduced with one Touch ;0)

We have a touch; received free after rebate when we bought our laptop. The girls love it for all the FREE games I load on it.

Enjoy!!!

How exciting! I love my I-phone and all the fun apps. I hope you've found the free section of the i-tunes store. It has so many things to choose from that I hardly ever pay for one.

Happy Birthday! I'm impressed you are really up to date and technologically savy with your itouch (or as my daughter might say - you are stylin). I feel like the stone ages now with my ipod shuffle ( again the same daughter tells me that only older people use those - so you are apparently younger and hipper than myself). Nice to be able to spend time with your sons.

Happy Birthday a bit late. I had a nice quiet day on Sunday. Told DH he could just put a ribbon on the quilt room door. Have fun with your new toy.

Belated Happy Birthday.

Abbey Road has got to be my all time favourite Beatle's album.

What lovely presents!! My Middlest got an iPod for her 18th and is trying to woo me to its joys! Since I still play records and casette tapes, she decided I was too much of a disaster!

Please show a photo of your necklace sometime? It sounds just lovely!

What fun to have someone else interested in your sewing machine! I bet you had a fun afternoon with NOS and it!!

Happy Belated Birthday! I got an I-Pod Touch for my birthday too. I have found this helpful in my crafting endeavors. I have an app called Notes (sort of like a post-it-note) where I can keep a shopping list for each craft project I want to do sometime. I also copy pictures of crafts/quilts that I think I might like to do. Both of these tools have come in handy when I'm out and about and find materials for projects on my to do list.

Happy belated birthday!! Congrats on the iPod touch. I have a classic iPod and listen to lots of BBC podcasts now (BBC history & woman's hour are my favorites). Sounds like a lovely time with your family.

Oh lucky you! It was my birthday recently, too. I only got a t-shirt though. Oops! No, I also got a giant mug and a book (Three Cups of Tea). That iPod sounds wonderful!
