The series follows a British former secret agent who is held prisoner in a mysterious seaside village where his captors try to find out why he abruptly resigned from his job. "
The series was filmed in a village in North Wales called Portmeirion. Again, according to Wikipedia, "Portmeirion is a popular tourist village in Gwynedd, North Wales. It was designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975 in the style of an Italian village and is now owned by a charitable trust.
Portmeirion has served as the location for numerous films and television shows, most famously serving as The Village in The Prisoner starring Patrick McGoohan as Number Six."
Well, we've come to stay here in Portmeirion for a few days holiday, with some friends. We had lovely weather on Sunday, so I was able to get around and take loads of photographs of the village. Yesterday we took a trip up Snowdon (using the train I fear, not walking) and I took loads of photographs then too. I'll show you those next time I get online.
Anyway, here is the slideshow. If you're a devotee of the series you will recognise several of the locations used. But I've realised I haven't yet taken a photograph of the cottage allotted to Number Six, so I'll have to remedy that.

Quaint and very colourful!
Love Portmeirion. I went quite a few years ago and I want to take Gem there as I think she'll be inspired.
Love and hugs Gina xxx
Yes! I've seen "The Prisoner" long time ago and in the US it was recently rerun in conjunction with a new US-miniseries version of the story (which was terrible!) I watched the UK version again. Your photos are great!
I'm not familiar with the show, but what a gorgeous place, and your photography is impressive. Very enjoyable slide show.
We had a visit to Portmeirion a few years ago. It is such a colourful place and inspired us to paint our garage a lovely pale blue!
You can see my post from 2008 if you like

Lovely place. Enjoy your stay.
I've never seen "The Prisoner" but last year around this time I was in Britain, starting in North Wales, and visited Portmeirion. Unfortunately that day my camera was smashed and had to buy the guidebook as I couldn't take my own pics - your photos were a lovely revisit...I loved it the few hours I was there. How lucky you were to get to have a stay.
I do remember Patrick McGoohan and I think I've heard of the series but I don't remember seeing it. Sounds very interesting, though. Portmeirion looks like a very quaint, beautiful place. Thank you for sharing it with us, Amanda.
