It's not that I haven't been doing anything over the last week or so, it's just that I haven't got round to blogging about it! We had a lovely time at our family get-together last week. Luckily both of our sons were able to make it, so everyone was very happy to see them again. Sadly our nieces weren't able to join us, one being at university and the other two being unwell. The whole weekend was, as usual when we return to our old haunts, extremely busy.

We started off in Brighton, spending Friday night with Number Two Son. Alexander cooked a wonderful prawn and vegetable curry for us, then we played Articulate with his partner and another house-mate, and watched Angels and Demons (at least, everyone else watched it, I fell asleep part way through - a reflection on the film perhaps?) Luckily, Alexander loved his waistcoat and wore it on Saturday.

Saturday saw us taking Alexander shopping first of all, then visiting some other friends in Brighton for coffee, before heading up the road to my sister-in-law's house for the family party. At some point we dropped Alexander at the station, as he was working that evening. Whilst we were in the town we popped into a new quilt shop, The Wandering Line, that has recently opened. It's a lovely shop, but I didn't buy anything, even though Christopher offered to treat me. Am I completely mad?

On Sunday morning Christopher went for a run with his old running club, whilst I went shopping; I actually managed to find some trousers that fitted in Marks and Spencer. After the run we met up with Number One Son for lunch, before heading home.

And what's happened during this week? Well, Christopher and I have joined a new singing group that had its first meeting last week. That was great fun and we're really looking forward to the next session. My yoga class went ahead, the first two sessions of this term having been cancelled because of the snow. And I did a whole load of housework, including cleaning all the windows.

On the sewing front? Well, I've finished the blocks for the quilts for the twin beds in our guest room. They've had to be put on one side whilst I make a lap quilt for my sister-in-law, for her birthday in March. I'm part way through making the blocks for that. And I've made a table runner.

The Quilt Show is running a contest for a Spring table runner, and I was inspired to make my own design, rather than following a pattern. It's the first time I've done that and I'm rather pleased with the result. It's all made with scraps, which is equally satisfying.

But now, I'm planning to have a rest, and perhaps a nap, after two very poor night's sleep.

Have fun,

Amanda,

You have been one busy lady. The vest looks great on son...ymou did an excellent job.

Singing - that is something new - never knew that about you two...what kind of songs will you be doing?

Bet you are glad you found some slacks you liked -both in color and fit. either I lose some weight or will need to get some new ones myself.

Enjoy the week.

always a delight to read one of your posts! My hubby and I enjoyed imagining what it would be like to hear you read your post aloud for us; we love the English verbage that appears in your words; so different than American English.

Happy Monday!

Golly me! Not surprising you haven't had time to write!
The waistcoat looks great on him, very trendy! And a new singing group? I hope that goes well, as if it does it will be so rewarding, fun to be involved in something from the start too I'd say.
You have certainly been doing a loy of sewing, well done on the designing too, when things work out right its a real lift!

What a happy post! The vest is terrific, no wonder your son likes it. Your move has really seemed to agree with you: 5 mile walks, singing groups, yoga, shopping and actually finding something you liked, and designing your own pattern. I love the table runner. And how cute it is - those little ducks - just precious.

Your new spring table runner is just adorable. So much fun for having been designed by you as well. It sounds as if you had a lovely time with your family. I hope you are able to catch back up on your sleep soon though.

Love your design for your entry in the quilt show and your yoga mat cover is very cheerful. Living in the country must be inspiring for you.
