Strawberry Jam

No, not a variation on the Strawberry Crush quilt I made last year, but real strawberry jam, made with strawberries from my garden. When we moved in we inherited quite a lot of strawberry plants, but they're not the tastiest strawberries I've ever tasted. So, we've had several fruit salads and smoothies and yesterday I made five pots of jam. It looks as if there's already enough fruit ripe to make another five pots too, so I think I'm going to be kept busy.

There are few things more satisfying than seeing fruit or vegetables from your own garden going into dishes or preserves. We've had loads of radishes this year, but not much else yet as we were quite late planting. But the Swiss Chard is ready, along with some of the carrots and lettuces. And the peas are on their way, along with some of the summer cabbages and the first crop of beetroot. Can you see the big smile on my face?

Fresh items - always to good tasting...we prefer our strawberries fresh or frozen - then over cake...been getting lots of yellow squash and zuchinni from the garden...way more than we can eat...so are sharing with lots of people.

I bet you are enjoying all your very own fresh veggies.

Looks yummy! I like just about anything made with strawberries. When I was growing up, we had a big garden of strawberries.

Lucky you to be able to have all those fresh vegetables and strawberries too! Fresh jam in a jar - just looks so pretty doesn't it and a real feeling of accomplishment. But I eat so many strawberries making it - I can't look at the jam or strawberries for days afterwards. Fortunately my strawberry jam turns out better than my strawberry crush quilt did!

The jam looks lovely. I know what you mean about it being satisfying eating you own produce.Wehave had lettuce and potatoes so far this year and there are other veggies nearly ready.
Your background is very appropriate!

There is nothing like fresh fruits and veggies from your own garden. Sounds like you'll be busy this summer.

Wow, very impressive, I've never grown enough of anything to can. I can imagine that it would be quite satisfying. Good luck keeping up with them. It must be a fun problem to have.

Hmm I think you need to send some to GA so I can try it :) I am watching my garden every day waiting for some fresh veggies.

This is just the coolest thing, Amanda! I can't hardly believe you had enough strawberries to make FIVE jars of jam. Wow! That's too wonderful. I am very envious! I'd love to be able to have a fruit and veggie garden. Unfortunately we don't have enough space and I have this brown thumb.

Your jam looks delicious and so homey. Your pantry should be looking very colorful by the end of summer.
I'm enjoying the big smile on your face.

Well Amanda dear, you can always ship some of those lovely jam jars over to me :0) NOTHING is better than homemade strawberry jam! Seriously!
I'll also be staying tuned to see if you are going to making some Orange marmalade like last summer :0)

And YES, it is so nice to go to the garden (and the chest-freezer for our pork and chicken) to put together a complete meal! VERY satisfying!

The pots of strawberry jam look lovely on your banner, really summery. I'd also like the look of the kit from Button Berries in your last post, what lovely colours.

Strawberry jam is my absolute favorite. I'm so impressed that you made your own. I watched my mother do canning, but have never done any myself.
