And the BIG news is... (188)

that we're moving house next Friday!

I haven't said anything before this, just in case it didn't happen, especially after the disappointment we had last year.

Having given up the whole idea of moving just yet, we were beginning to make plans for some home improvement work - as you probably remember, we had decorated my new sewing room in early January. Then, quite out of the blue, we had a letter from the people who had made the offer on the house last year, and then dropped out. They couldn't find anywhere they liked better and were still really keen, and in a better position to move forward now - were we still interested? Well, yes, as long as the house we wanted was still available. And it was - so that was that, action stations.

And the upshot is - after all the usual frustrations attendant upon this business - contracts were exchanged this afternoon.

So that just gives us one week to get everything organised! For goodness sake, how are we going to manage!

I'm really quite excited about the move now, and look forward to sharing photographs with you once we actually arrive. For anyone who may be interested, I've started a new blog, On Moving to Somerset, to write about everything to do with the move and the new house and the new area.

So, my one year anniversary, 200 blog, give-away will be waiting a little while now, until we're settled into our new home - and I don't think I'm going to be able to do much sewing for the next few days either!

hurry up and wait so you can scurry at the end -- Sounds like quite the housing ride you've been on! :-)

How exciting for you! You will really have to get a move on to do it in a week. Hopefully, the boys will be free for a period of time and can lend a hand.

Don't forget about us after you make the move.

Hurray!! I am so happy for you. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that everything goes smoothly. But wait how will I sew if I do that - I'll just keep you in my thoughts instead. Thanks for sharing this good news.

Oh goodness, I had hoped that was your happy news. Next Friday? How will you possibly get it all done. I hope you will have some serious help with the heavy lifting. Never fear, once your things are moved to your new house you will have all the time you need to get it settled in. I'm so excited for you.

Wow Amanda, that's a bombshell. I wish I could be there to help you with the packing and moving. I'm very happy for you. I've been over on your other blog, it looks like a really wonderful place and I'm looking forward to the pictures when you get time. I imagine it will take awhile.

OH MY HEAVENS! Wow, Amanda! Are you ever so lucky! The real estate market is so bad right now and here you are! I'm looking forward to seeing your new place. What fun! Hectic but definitely fun!

Wow! Although you had to go through the disapointment of losing the original sale in the end this is probably a good way to do it. Things that you want to happen sometimes do when you stop thinking about them. I will have a look at your other blog.
I hope your health is better, maria

Wow! Hope everything goes ok. Just don't panic and remember to put the quilts in the car, not the removal van "just in case".

OH!!!! YEAH YOU!!!!!
It goes without saying that I'm so happy to hear your great news! Moving it such a bitter-sweet time. On one side, you get a new location to "make your own," but in order to do that, there is so many memories that need to be moved and also left behind at your old house.
Here's to a smooth transition!

Wow! Congratulations!! I guess the other house was meant to be, even if it took a little while. I hope moving goes smoothly for you and I'll be following along on your other blog. Best wishes!!!

What wonderful news. I remember how excited you were with the new house and how sad when it didn't happen. Well, as they say, everything happens in it's own time. I don't envy you having to pack up so quickly. Good luck! Can't wait to see the photos of your new home!
