First finish for March (186)

I made this little wallhanging for Alexander's partner, as a birthday present. It was based on a design in the March 2008 issue of British Patchwork and Quilting and measures about 12" square. And, this is the card I made. Oops! I hadn't realised until I looked at the photograph how wonky the writing is - perhaps it's the angle of the photograph!!

Today I'm off to the next class in my patchwork and quilting course - we're making the flying geese border I believe. I had great fun with the applique section, and I'll try and take a photograph to show you later. I'm having to take a taxi, as our car's in the garage for the third time in as many weeks. We keep having a problem with it not starting, but the garage can't find anything wrong with it. As it's an intermittent problem it is, of course, starting perfectly every time the mechanics try it!!!

Love the detail of the buttons on both the wall hanging and the card. They just seem to add the touch to take it over the top. You are quite talented!

Too bad about your car...mine is also in shop to have the door fixed - because of the hit it took several weeks ago.

Hope your class was fun and you learned alot.

I love your little wall hanging. The water looks so real with the way you quilted it, and the fabric you used. Everything about it is charming. Hope you enjoy your class, and the mechanics find the problem and fix it cheaply.

The fish is cute as can be. I like the use of buttons for the bubbles!

Hi Amanda, I love the little fishy, especially the way you've quilted the waves. Hope the car problem is reolved soon. Mine had one of those intermittent faults a few years ago and it was very frustrating.

I love the wall hanging, Amanda. The buttons for bubbles are just so terrific and I love the colors!

I just wanted to tell you that I'm very excited about my new sewing machine. I noticed that my jeans pocket was tearing off my behind so I put a piece of denim behind and darned it. It's terrific. I've also found that I can sew stretch knits now. I'm so excited I'm looking through my closet looking for what else I can fix. I did make a cover for my printer, but I don't know how to do any appliques or fancy stuff yet. I'm afraid this will take a bit of time.
