Tied to the sewing machine

I reckon I'm going to be pretty sick of the sight of this quilt by the time it's finished! I started this a couple of months ago, and really should have finished it by now. I finished piecing the blocks some time ago, but then other things intervened and I got no further. It's intended for our small guest room, which has one single bed.

Number One Son is coming to visit next week, and will use that room, so I decided to make that a target for getting it finished. So, over the past three days I've quilted three rows of five blocks. I'm using a quilt-as-you-go method, which means quite a lot of extra work as the blocks have all to be joined together once they're quilted, but, oh, the quilting is so much easier. I reckon that if I take the next two days to finish the rows then I should be able to join the rows on Sunday and bind it and wash it on Monday, ready for Oliver's arrival on Tuesday.

Watch this space!

I like it! I always think I will be finished with something long before I am...enjoy your process.

Your quilting looks great. Not a pucker in sight! The quilt as you go solves some problems and creates others. How lovely for your son to have a fresh new quilt to enjoy for his visit.

I hope the deadline helps and not hinders getting the quilt done. I love blue & white quilts.

I seem to have missed a few posts lately. Glad to see that your fils quilt is much better. The stars look good on it. This one you are working on for the spare bed is looking good too, looking forward to seeing LOTS of progress in the near future!
Looks like you are keeping out of the shops too! Bec xxx

Not speaking "quilting," I wasn't sure how much work you have done or need still to do. But, I have complete faith in your ability to do it.

Show us a picture when you're done.

It looks great Amanda. Amy does her larger quilts in 2 or 3 pieces, and she seems to like it. It would be a lot easier than wrestling the whole thing.

Hi Amanda. I like your blog. I love to quilt too. I'm starting a quilting group in the states in which each person (of 12) gets their own month to tell the others what kind of block (pattern, size, colors, etc) they want and then we all mail to that person. I need two more people and thought it would be fun to have someone from another country. Are you interested? Take care. I still love your blog if you don't want to participate.

Oooo, from the looks of the beginning row, that geometric pattern using two colors is RIGHT up my alley! Are you still quilting away and on track to make the goal time?
