I had quite a few people asking me what daleks are. Daleks are alien space monsters that have cropped up regularly in the BBC television series Dr Who. Dr Who started in 1963 and ran until 1989 and then a new series was started in 2005. Dr Who is a Time Lord who travels through space and time. He is able to regenerate, which has enabled different actors to pay the part. There have now been ten doctors. If you want to see what daleks look like have a look at this clip on youtube. If you like science fiction you should really try to get hold of any of the modern Dr Who programmes, they have a great following here. Wonderful, family, hide-behind-the-cushion entertainment.
This is a picture of David Tennant, the Tenth Doctor, with his space ship, the Tardis.

I'm afraid that I'm in the minotiry in that I don't like this new version of Dr Who. I just can't seem to get into it.
I prefer Joun Pertwee and Tom Baker as my Dr's
Love and hugs Gina xxx
My 7yr old son loves Dr.Who and Mummy loves David Tennant! What will we do without him? I hope the new Dr. is as pleasing on the eye as him!!
Mt 7yr old son loves Dr.Who, we have a few daleks around the house.
What is Mummy to do now David Tenant is leaving? I hope the new Dr. is as yummy as him!
I, too, was one tht didn't know what a "dalek" was....so I googled the word. Reason I didn't ask you - I have asked you many questions in the past - was because you might be beginning to wonder if I know much of anything.
Anyway, glad to hear I was not the only one who had needed to broaden their pop culture vocabulary.
Thanks for the Dr. Who lesson - I may need to check those out on Netflix. The daleks are sort of cute - and from the clip evil too?!
I've never seen a Dr. Who program. I'll mention it to my husband who loves science fiction. Thank you for the tip.
Very scientifical! Never heard of it before!
You've forgotten to mention that David Tennant is the most gorgeous, and best, Dr. Who ever. What on eaerth are we going to do after Christmas Day (sob).
Sounds like a fun show.
I love Dr. Who. The first time I saw it was in the late 70s - I think it was Dr. #3. We didn't get all the shows regularly so it wasn't until Dr. #4, whom I loved, became Dr. #5, that I realized what happened - I just thought they changed actors! We didn't get Drs. 8 and 9 here, but the SciFi channel has shown Dr. #10 and it looks like we'll get Dr. #11. We're also getting Sarah Jane! I've fortunately found another Dr. Who fan here, she lived in England for a few years and discovered him - otherwise, most people here (which is New Hampshire-USA) have absolutely no idea what we are talking about!
Hey Amanda! Popped in for a visit from Chookyblue's blog - I'm one of the SSCS swappers, too! I grew up watching the old series of Dr Who (often from behind the couch!!) and have enjoyed the new series, though preferred Christopher Eccleston, but David Tennant has grown on me. Those Darleks are nasty critters and rather hard to kill!! Bear Hugs! KRIS
