Craftsy BOM

I've at last finished the twenty blocks for the Craftsy BOM. I signed up at the beginning of the year, but didn't get started until Candace mentioned on her blog that she was about to start the blocks. It was a real motivation to have someone else sewing along, and Candace has been very kind to keep waiting for me to catch up with her. Her blocks are wonderfully wacky and colourful, whilst I have experimented with using a white background for the first time.

I'm not too certain yet what I'll use for sashing and borders - any suggestions as to colours? I don't really want to buy anything new, so will have to use whatever I have enough of, but suggestions for colours would be most welcome.

They are great, Amanda. Amy did her sashing with the background fabric

It looks very nice that way, and would work very well for yours I think. I must say, there was a time or two when you were ahead of me. I love your blocks together.

PS It looks like you figured out how to make a collage, I'm sure that it was different for you since you have a mac. When I did my arrangement of my blocks I printed the collage, cut it up and glued it back together in my chosen arrangement. It was much easier than trying to lay out the actual blocks and keep them all organized. You might give it a try if you hadn't already thought of it yourself.

PPS Looks like you came up with a unique arrangement for your second drunkard's path block. I like it a lot.

What a fun collection of blocks. There are so many colors going on in your blocks, I think it would take on whatever color you sashed it with. So the question becomes, what color of quilt do you need? There is a lot of red going on, purple would be a nice accent. Maybe some yellow cornerstones to tie it together? You could lay out a couple of options and ask for votes. I agree with using the stash though. Always a best first plan.

Great set of blocks. Look like any primary colour would work great. Red, blue or the yellow you have been using.

Wow!!What terrific blocks. some of those blocks look difficult, that a lot of hard work.
I would use a small polka dotted print for the sashing and border. Maybe white with red or yellow or black dots.

The wonderful outcome of using white as a background---ANY color of sashing will be fitting :) Dig into your stash and find what you have enough of :D A great way to utilize your stash.

The blocks are great! I sort of like the idea of white sashing also with a colored binding...or even a binding of several of the colors used in the quilt. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished top.

Hi there. I would like to weigh in on color choices. First thing that popped into my mind was "That quilt has to have little red cornerstones!" I would say for sashing, either black or navy blue, possibly a pindot, or two color print, but something that reads as a solid.
Or you could go with yellow cornerstones too...

I think you and Candace have done an amazing job with your blocks. They are both lovely blocks.

Wow, Amanda, lovely blocks! Blocks always have to talk to me, once I have finished them and make a quilt. Sometimes that can take weeks. And all of a sudden the idea is there. Mostly works out perfectly.
